Sakalava or the Emerald Sea: two different sessions
Sakalava Bay, near Diego Suarez (Antsiranana), is where we offer private lessons and coaching. The spot has different riding areas and the water changes with the tide. For a beginner, the instructor confirms the practice area, wind and safety rules before the lesson; “lagoon” does not mean every part of the bay suits every rider at every hour.
The Emerald Sea is usually planned as an excursion from the north. Travelling by boat makes it different from taking daily lessons at Sakalava. Nosy Be and the south: do not assume the north’s conditions apply
Kite lessons and trips are offered in the Nosy Be region, including around Nosy Komba. It can suit a trip combining water activities and island visits, but the spots, transfers and schedule are different from Diego Suarez. Confirm a session and its exact location before booking flights.
Further south, Anakao is among the areas listed by tourism sources. Do not assume Sakalava’s wind, equipment or infrastructure is available there. For a trip in the south, find a local school and ask for current safety and access guidance.
When is kitesurf season in Madagascar?
In the north, the usual Varatraza season is generally described as April to November, with variations by spot and year. The National Tourism Office cites May to November as a favourable window in its overview; this does not mean every day is rideable.
